Instead of a desktop processor in its biggest all-in-one system, HP has decided to Intel Core i5 460M dual-core mobile processor to use the TouchSmart 600-1370. While this does offer a fair amount of performance, it falls behind other all-in-ones based on Intel’s Core i3 desktop processors. This is not going to be a major problem for many users, unless you’re looking to do tasks like video editing. The 4 GB of DDR3 memory, should help it run smoothly in most applications.

What really TouchSmart 600-1370, apart from the smaller 300 and 310 series are the media features. HP includes a Blu-ray compatible drive and an over the air HDTV tuner. This combined with the 23-inch 1920×1080 touchscreen display that this is a very powerful desktop media center. The glossy screen coating can be derived with glare and reflections under certain lighting conditions and showing smudges and fingerprints easily. The only drawback is the lack of an HDMI video input, as some other all-in-ones making it to connect to a digital cable or satellite TV receiver.

One of the major problems with the TouchSmart 600-1370 remains the graphics system. Although not using a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce graphics processor G210M, it’s an older mobile graphics solution that limit performance and features. Add to this that is only 512 MB of memory and the system is really only decent for decoding HD video, or basic 3D graphics. It is not enough performance, even for casual 3D gaming or providing much of a boost to applications like Adobe’s Photoshop.

HP’s TouchSmart 600 was one of our favorite new PCs this fall because of the abundance of useful features. We’re more ambivalent about lower-end HP’s TouchSmart 300-1020. This touch-screen all-in-one PC offers decent performance, but it has a smaller screen and lacks the impressive features of the higher-end TouchSmart. With good recipe organization software may appeal to those looking for a kitchen PC, but you can do better than the TouchSmart 300-1020 20-inch screen, the price for home entertainment, and you’re much better off with a traditional desktop general purpose productivity.

HP TouchSmart 300-1020 Review

The TouchSmart 300-1020 is a fixed configuration model available at retail. HP offers a few other pre-configured TouchSmart 300s, and a fully customizable version of its website. Between the different models are variations in the CPU, memory, hard disk capacity, and other features, but all share a 20-inch touch screen, wireless networking, built, adjustable webcam and HP’s own suite of touch software.

Though the TouchSmart 300-1020 is attractive enough to display anywhere, it is probably best suited in the kitchen as a recipe organizer and multimedia companion. You can find our review of the HP TouchSmart 600 for our full impressions of HP’s touch-based input Recipe Box software to grab recipes from the web and organize them for later use. Here we simply say that the Recipe Box software perhaps the best feature of the TouchSmart 300-1020, and technology-minded chief will probably come to rely on.

We also like the TouchSmart PC 300-1020 as a kitchen for watching videos or playing music because of its relatively small size. At 21.5 inches wide by 8 inches deep (with the default fully extended) by 16 centimeters high, it will fit on countertops more than the larger, more expensive TouchSmart 600. However, it really only is this recommendation due to the Recipe Box software. If you do not want a PC to help you cook, but simply in the market for a Windows-based media player kitchen, Gateway One ZX4800-02 has the same combination of 20-inch screen, a DVD drive and touch screen for $ 150 less.

In every other room, where space may be less a problem, we can not recommend the TouchSmart as a media PC 300-1020. The reason for this is the Acer Aspire Z5610. It might not be as attractive as the HP, and touch-specific software is not as polished, but for entertainment purposes, we will take a bigger screen every time – especially if there is no price difference.

HP TouchSmart 300-1020 Review

That brings us to productivity. The TouchSmart 300-1020 is a reasonable performer in the all-in-one PCs, especially for day-to-day multitasking-oriented use. Although it falls behind the Acer on our iTunes and Photoshop application testing, our multitasking and Cinebench multi stress tests suggest that the HP is only half the iMac in managing multiple simultaneous tasks (or a multithreaded application).

The wrinkle, as always with all-in-ones, the standard desktop tower. Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 is just one example but it clearly shows that you can spend considerably less than the HP for a much faster desktop tower, with enough money to match the desktop with a monitor, so no all – in-one advantage in the integrated display.

In addition to finding it suited to a relatively narrow use of scenarios, we are disappointed that HP stopped a few of the features that we so valued in TouchSmart 600. We miss the HDMI video input most of all. That function can be a cable box, a game console, or an HDMI video source and pump it into the TouchSmart 600 (a feature HP borrowed from Sony’s all-in-ones), significantly expanding its usefulness as a home entertainment display. We have even seen an HDMI input on an Asus Nettop, so HP can not exactly claim cost as a reason for leaving out the TouchSmart 300-1020. There is no Blu-ray drive in TouchSmart 300. We have not seen Blu-ray in a sub-$ 1,000 all-in-one, but we do not expect this barrier will keep too much longer.

HP TouchSmart 300-1020 Review

This is not to say the TouchSmart 300-1020 does not have home-entertainment friendly nods. It retains the 600′s TouchSmart wall mount capability via a separate adapter and bracket. You also get hard volume and mute buttons on the side of the system. We would like to see HP add a special screen on / off button, though. And while we regret the loss of HDMI input, the digital and analog audio outputs on the back, along with the collection of the back and side-mounted USB 2.0 ports must relate to your more traditional connectivity needs.

The TouchSmart 300-1020 of the energy comes from right where we expect her accomplishment. It has no settings or use states where it uses an excessive amount of energy, and the total annual cost will be a burdensome amount not to add to your energy bill.

HP’s TouchSmart 310 is more a refinement of their 20-inch all-in-one design is a completely new system. Many of the changes with a few cosmetic changes part to help more affordable. While the TouchSmart 300 could come with a quad-core AMD Athlon II processor, the 310-1020 comes with a more sedate and energy efficient Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor II 240E. This is fine for most standard applications, but there were times when some felt held back by the applications processor. This applies particularly to the first launch of the TouchSmart interface. This may benefit from extra memory at the base 4GB DDR3.

HP TouchSmart 310-1020 Review

Storage features remain virtually identical to the previous TouchSmart 300 and 310. It uses a desktop-class hard drive, although the size has shrunk back to 750GB compared to the previous 1TB. This should provide a good amount of storage for most people, unless you use lots of digital video. A dual layer DVD burner drive, laptop class is on the left of the screen. There is also a six-in-one memory card reader on the lower right just above the audio jacks.

The TouchSmart 310 uses the same 20-inch multitouch screen on a 1600×900 resolution. The screen is equipped with the glossy coating that helps the colors stand out, but causes a fair amount of reflections under certain lighting conditions. Unlike the position of the previous model, the 310 uses a more traditional display of the computer that gives it a better range of tilt. The graphics are driven by updated ATI Radeon HD 4270 integrated graphics solution. This should work just fine for anyone who uses the system default web HD video playback, but it lacks much in terms of 3D graphics performance than a low resolution casual gaming.

HP TouchSmart 310-1020 Review

Of course the big feature is the touch screen display and the TouchSmart software. HP has a number of improvements to the software and the interface does not seem as much delay as the 300-series version. This is still the best overall performance of touch software for the Windows 7 platform. It’s just a shame that more software is available to take advantage of the multitouch screens. This is even evident in the HP software to store the interface within a very limited selection of programs.

One of the minor annoyances with the TouchSmart 310 is the wireless keyboard and mouse. Instead of using Bluetooth, they rely on wireless dongle that you take one of the six USB 2.0 ports on the system. This limits the number of external peripherals can be connected to the system. It would have been nice to see them keep Bluetooth and Bluetooth keyboards and mice to help save ports.

HP TouchSmart 310-1020 Review

Verdict

The TouchSmart 310-1020 is a new and more affordable version of their 20-inch multi-touch all-in-one PC. While many of the basic functions remain the same as past models, slight changes to improve the response time and screens helped lower costs. The disadvantage is that the processor and hard drive are reduced and the HDTV tuner removed. Still, if you want a solid, yet affordable all-in-one touchscreen, it is difficult to find a better value than the TouchSmart 310 found.

HP TouchSmart 300-1025 Review

November 4, 2010 HP Comments

With the release of Windows 7 multi-touch computing is finally something worth looking into because Windows 7 supports multiple touch points for the first time and the interface has been redesigned to be touch-friendly have been. The HP TouchSmart Desktop PC 300-1025 offers a 20″ touchscreen LCD, and has seen smooth, that there is an excellent primary or secondary PC that has many different functions for many different users.

HP TouchSmart 300-1025 Review

The HP TouchSmart 300-1025 looks like the rest of the HP TouchSmart PC series with the glossy black finish and a large canvas with two legs and a silver back. The 20″ touchscreen with this device is slightly smaller than their 23″ brothers in the same TouchSmart desktop series, but because of the smaller screen, this model is slightly cheaper as well. Just below the screen is the speaker bar and the Home button is also on the front that opens when pressed, the HP TouchSmart application. One of the 300 model is the lack of 600-series models is the ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display backlight depending on the room’s ambient light. Above the touch screen is also a built-in webcam. The touchscreen is very responsive and works like a charm. The screen has a glossy surface, but as fingerprints and streaks show very easily. Typing on the keyboard on the screen was a breeze, but do not expect to use it as a physical keyboard replacement. The TouchSmart 300-1025 happens with a wireless keyboard and mouse duo, and as we are, it comes with the new Windows 7 Home Edition (64-bit) preinstalled said.

Since it comes with Windows 7, it takes advantage of the fact that multiple points of contact and the touch interface of Windows optimized them 7. Movements such as pinching and twisting the fingers are also supported for functions such as zoom and rotate in many aspects of the operating system as well. HP TouchSmart already installed its application to surf a touch interface which allows for users to watch videos/images is, on the Internet, keep a calendar of events, view the weather forecast and many other practical functions.

HP TouchSmart 300-1025 Review

The specifications of the HP TouchSmart 300-1025 are not reduced in spite of “below” the TouchSmart 600 series does. This model comes with an AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 240e 2.8 GHz CPU, 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 RAM, a 640GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n integrated WLAN and with a slot-loading LightScribe DVD burner technology. The graphics card in this model is an ATI Radeon HD 3200 with 256 MB integrated memory. There is also a built-in HDTV tuner to your cable TV service to connect with stop watch, rewind and record cable TV just like you would using a DVR. Built-in is a 6-in-1 memory card reader and a good number of ports, including: 6 USB 2.0, digital audio output, S-video input, audio input and a line in/out port. It is not the HDMI connection, which is in touch smart to use more expensive models.

HP also has many free programs on this model (and all of their PCs to be honest), but many of these programs are either experimental or “bloatware” slow down, just plug the hard disk and the system. Some of these programs include a 60-day subscription to Norton Internet Security 2009, HP Games by WildTangent, and many shortcuts to eBay and other online services. We recommend that the Norton trial and any programs you do not feel you need to clear to remove extra space. Replace the Norton software was released with Microsoft Security Essentials program is the best choice if you do not want to spend money for security suite.

We felt that the performance of the HP TouchSmart 300-1025 is very quick and fit every user. This is a very good desktop PC for the dorm room or bedroom because of the built-in TV tuner and the touch screen just adds to the style of the system.

HP TouchSmart 300-1120 Review

November 3, 2010 HP Comments

Most of you should touch Fans of HP software, but what HP TouchSmart 300-1120 offers do not see enough to make up the 899 $ prize. If you are not concerned about the price tag and looking for a touch PC that you can use it anywhere in your house, then TouchSmart 300-1120 is the best bet. If not for a few dollars more, you can have a all in one system or the purchase of a similar performance laptop for less price.

HP TouchSmart 300-1120 Review

TouchSmart 300-1120 is the update from 300-1020, that was launched earlier this year. Hard-ware components remain to be the same, except for a large hard drive. It definitely has an attractive look with black and gray body, rounded corners and polished than most competitors. However, it should not bring an iMac in its design aspects. The Touch software is the biggest advantage in the PC. The system is slim, but very easy to use the apps made with the idea and more money from HP invests possible.

If you have $ 100 can do more, you can create a Gateway One ZX6900-01e, which not only offers touch support, but also a larger screen with high resolution, Blu-ray drive and a faster processor. It includes various applications, but most attractive is the recipe box that brings the recipes from various websites. The app even voice control.

Performance wise, the HP is sure to fall behind the gateway ZX6900-01e. It is a shame that his performance is not comparable, even with the less convenient  HP All-in-One 200-5020, but do not touch interface support. HP Touch Apps are attractive, but it can not be a compromise for the price.

HP TouchSmart 300-1120 Review

Connectivity options are also not satisfactory. You get four USB 2.0 ports on the back and two on the right side, which makes a total of six analog audio output, Ethernet port and a digital audio output. You do not even get an HDMI connection is available in the Gateway. Since it may lack a HDMI port, there is no way in connection to connect a game console or cable box. HDMI port is in the 21.5-inch smart touch is available but more costly.

HP TouchSmart 600-1055 Review

September 13, 2010 HP Comments

Evaluation of successive generations of HP TouchSmart series reminds us of shopping for a new car. If you buy in charity and in the fall of This Year’s Model, you must never, ever visit the showroom to the next year or you’ll look model with a fit of remorse of the buyer faster than you can say “scheduled to be taken”.

HP TouchSmart 600-1055 Review

We are not suggesting that HP is purposely making these machines a shorter than normal life or that it has been adding frivolous features, new models, it is only that the company’s engineers to make design improvements that are large enough for keep asking ourselves why we showered so much praise on the previous iteration. The changes this year are a little more incremental, but is given an HP-major help from Microsoft, as Windows 7, which is not only far superior to Vista, but also offers much better native support for HP TouchSmart applications. Fortunately, owners of the previous generation Smarts Touch the possibility of upgrading to Windows 7 and download the latest version of HP software.

But we can go back to the matter at hand: Just what makes the TouchSmart 600-1055 so damn cute? It is the display, for starters. Last year’s model had a 22-inch display with a native resolution of 1680×1050, this has a 23-inch screen with a native resolution of 1920×1080, making it the ideal partner for both the slot-feed Blu-ray drive and the integrated HDTV tuner.

How has the typical TouchSmart series, HP is building the rest of the machine with a lot of notebook components keep everything thin enough to mount on the wall and cool enough to the need for noisy fans minimized. And this machine is whisper quiet, we our ears directly on the Top-Vent, had put to hear the fan, and his signature was barely audible over the sound of the air they were breathing through the bars. Getting back to HP’s component choices, the designers installed Nvidia GeForce 230M GT in a PCI Express x16 MXM module and coupled with a dedicated 1GB frame buffer. The CPU is a mobile 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 4GB DDR3/1333 MHz Memory (no doubt we Arrandale a quad-core machine to see next year. Sigh combined.)

HP TouchSmart 600-1055 Review

We had to benchmarking-all-in-one machines, until we sent Dell XPS One in 24″, which came with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 CPU desktop, so it’s only fair that we waived benchmark HP the offer. (We still do not know our game benchmarks to run on all-in-ones, though, as this class of machine is clearly not designed for games.) As you might expect, the Touch-Smart suffers in comparison with Dell and our previous zero-rig, slowly with benchmark results of around 35 percent. But when we went online to the XPS One 24′s current price to obtain, we discovered that the product of Dell’s web site had disappeared.

HP TouchSmart own applications are much improved over the previous two generations, and now there are third-party applications as well. The built-in Netflix, Pandora, Rhapsody and Hulu customers are the most important of them, and there is also a touch-optimized custom browser. Find or even falling out of the TouchSmart interface for use of programs like Word and Photoshop, but HP software is much less of a novelty than it was before. And we’ll repeat our reservations about all-in-Ones: This machine makes a great second computer, do not expect it to be your one and only.

HP Touch Smart is 300-1125 for the latest revision of the smaller touch screen enabled HP All-in-one desktop PCs. It differs significantly from its larger counterpart, because it is based around the AMD processor options instead of the popular Intel chips. In the case of 300-1125, it uses an AMD Athlon X4 II 600e energy-efficient quad-core processor. This is a relatively low-end quad-core processor from the company, but it handles most tasks without any problems and has a slight advantage over the lower core i3 Dual-Core processors in some tasks like video editing. The 4 GB of memory supports moderate slowdowns are running multiple applications.

HP TouchSmart 300-1125 All-in-One PC Review

For storage, the TouchSmart 300-1125 using a considerable one terabyte hard drive that much room for applications should, data and media. This is also larger than many other all-in-ones, their storage on laptop hard drives instead of desktop-size those basis. A dual-layer DVD burner is also included for playing and recording CDs and DVDs. The drive supports burning labels on LightScribe compatible media. It would be nice to see a Blu-ray compatible drive, but it would add to the costs.

The big feature on the HP Touch Smart’s is on the multi-touch displays. The Smart Touch 300 uses a smaller 20-inch display that has a 1600×900 resolution. During this 720p high-definition video support, it may fall behind full 1080p support. The multi-touch interface works well but has a slight bit of input lag at times. The big problem with the display is the reflective coating. While it makes for a very sharp and colorful display, the coating makes it very difficult without using a large amount of glare or reflections.

HP TouchSmart 300-1125 All-in-One PC Review

This hope, Smart Touch 300 could be used for more than a media station to be disappointed by the graphic. HP has an integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 processor, which uses quite well for simple Web-or high-definition video-streaming works. The problem is that it lacks any real 3D performance for anything other than basic casual gaming PC at lower resolutions and detail levels.

What really sets the HP TouchSmart All-in-ones apart from other touch-enabled computers is the software. HP has a lot of effort put into its software suite to take full advantage of the interface. This is really important as the basic Windows 7 touch functions are not much more than a replacement for the mouse and a virtual keyboard.

Even with the built-in HDTV tuner, most people get their high-definition video from either digital cable or satellite broadcasts. This is where the media features of the TouchSmart could be 300 improved. While the system has an S-Video and audio inputs, it would be really an HDMI input allow you to connect an external tuner benefits in Blu-ray player.

HP TouchSmart PC 600-1055 ($ 1,599 list), the third-generation HP TouchSmart PC for the home. HP first communications computing solutions for home and each successive generation was better. The new model combines the experience of HP Touch with support for Microsoft built into Windows 7 (aka, Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 is). The result is a system that I can finally recommend it without reservation as an amateur touch and the average home user, and earns our Editors Choice for mass all in one computer.

Design
TouchSmart 600 looks like an updated version of PC TouchSmart IQ (as IQ816), we have seen in the past. It has a 23-inch, 16:09 1080p HD screen, which he uses to great effect. The front panel is pretty sparse: only “Home” key appears on the panel. The power button is on the right side of the slot-loading disc Blu-Ray, and most of the other ports on the left side, under a removable cover panel.
