HP TouchSmart 600-1370 Review

Instead of a desktop processor in its biggest all-in-one system, HP has decided to Intel Core i5 460M dual-core mobile processor to use the TouchSmart 600-1370. While this does offer a fair amount of performance, it falls behind other all-in-ones based on Intel’s Core i3 desktop processors. This is not going to be a major problem for many users, unless you’re looking to do tasks like video editing. The 4 GB of DDR3 memory, should help it run smoothly in most applications.
What really TouchSmart 600-1370, apart from the smaller 300 and 310 series are the media features. HP includes a Blu-ray compatible drive and an over the air HDTV tuner. This combined with the 23-inch 1920×1080 touchscreen display that this is a very powerful desktop media center. The glossy screen coating can be derived with glare and reflections under certain lighting conditions and showing smudges and fingerprints easily. The only drawback is the lack of an HDMI video input, as some other all-in-ones making it to connect to a digital cable or satellite TV receiver.

If you’re looking to get a touchscreen system, then HP is still the clear leader. It is not necessarily the hardware, but the TouchSmart software that really makes a difference. Windows 7 to have touch features built in, but most Windows software does not have specialized functions for touch interfaces. HP’s software overlay provides a variety of applications that use it. Those who do not want so much to spend and do not need the media features are the possibility of obtaining the HP TouchSmart 300.

If you are looking for a touchscreen-based all-in-one, which will double as a high definition media center, the HP TouchSmart 600-1370 is the clear choice in the market today. HP’s TouchSmart software suite is the best touch application software on the market. There are a number of disadvantages, including IT based on a laptop than desktop processor and limited graphics system. For most users, they are not big issues.
