HP Pavilion p6740f against the trend of using the new second generation Core processors from Intel and AMD processor decides to use the system much more affordable. With a base price of $ 780, the system can be found with street prices around $ 700 or below. This makes the system very attractive, but it does have its drawbacks too.

HP Pavilion p6740f Review

To power the system, using HP 955 and AMD Phenom X4 quad core processor II. This is an older generation processor that is the below-par performance that Intel has achieved in its Core series quad-core processors. It’s much cheaper and its price has a good job in most applications. This is helped by the fact that no full HP 8GB DDR3 memory, such delays reduce the use of heavy multi-tasking, or memory-intensive applications.

One advantage of the HP Pavilion p6740f has more than many other machines is the storage space. Many desktops have decided to 1TB size for disk devices in this price range. HP uses instead a larger 1.5TB hard drive provides more than enough space for applications, data and even high definition media files. It should be noted that the drive spin a lower variable interest rate that reduces the performance compared with 1TB drives running at 7200rpm spin rates used. A standard dual-layer DVD burner handles all playback and recording of CDs or DVDs.

The major drawback of the HP Pavilion p6740f is the graphics. Instead of a dedicated graphics card, the system is based on an integrated ATI Radeon 4200 processor. This is fine for basic use including HD media playback. It lacks a real performance for dealing with 3D graphics. It can be used for the most basic 3D graphics in a casual game, but at low resolutions. The diet is also a very small 250 watt so even though there is a PCI Express graphics slot, it can only handle the most basic dedicated graphics cards are installed.

Monitor not included!

A nice feature that HP has included in the HP Pavilion p6740f is an 802.11b/g/n wireless network adapter. This allows the system to be easily integrated into a wireless home network with the help of oem software download. It’s actually surprising that more companies this function to desktop PCs to be included as Wi-Fi networks are almost ubiquitous in the modern home for use with laptops and even mobile phones and media players.

Conclusion

HP Pavilion p6740f is an affordable computer system that has some nice features. This includes a large than the average hard drive and built-in wireless networking. The low price means that the system does in terms of functionality, including integrated graphics prevent them being used for virtually any 3D gaming to sacrifice. The processor is much slower than Intel-based system in the same price.

HP is generous with both hard drive space and RAM in the HP Pavilion p6720f, but skimp on the discrete graphics card. And by “cut corners”, I mean not one to take. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though: This budget desktop is an excellent choice for employees who are easily distracted by gaming, as you will not be able to do much of it.

Priced at $ 580 HP is equipped with a 2.9GHz AMD Phenom II 840T quad-core processor, 6GB RAM, and a whopping (for a budget machine) 1 TB Hard Drive . It also packs a DVD burner, ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The Pavilion P6720f is housed in a plain-looking black HP chassis. The glossy black plastic front hides an enhancement of the bay that sits just below the DVD burner, in case you want a second optical drive (such as a Blu-ray player) add. The power button, located at the top of the chassis, is lit with a subtle ice blue LED. The p6720f is pretty slim (about 7 cm wide), but otherwise unremarkable in appearance, the matte-black side with the HP logo and the cone from the direction of the front.

This desktop comes with a generic mouse and keyboard set. Both devices are connected, so there are two of your six USB ports total. The two are pleasant-looking spiffy: The mouse is a black, two-button with wheel-scrolling affair with smooth lines, and the keyboard is flat and black with silver volume buttons.

You will not find much bundled oem software, other than the required trialware and the HP MediaSmart video and music suite.

The front of the p6720f has a few useful ports, including a multi-format card reader bay. Also present are headphone and microphone jacks, and two USB 2.0 ports. I would like a USB 3.0 port, or even an eSATA port, but remember: This is a budget machine, not a multimedia powerhouse. The back is also equipped with four USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, an S / PDIF out, a DVI-out and a VGA-out. Support for 7.1 surround sound is included, too.

Open p6720f the case, and you will a somewhat somber amount of expansion room available. Please note – the inside is a mess. The wires are all clumped in the middle and held together with cable ties. Fortunately, you can not do much on the inside, anyway. As I said earlier, the machine has a free 5.25-inch bay, available, as are two additional 3.5-inch bays, a spare RAM slot, one PCI slot and three PCIe x1 slots. Well, at least you can do that much needed to install video card.

Now, the p6720f a budget machine, so performance is understandable paragraph if you are used to check the performance PCs. That said, this quad-core PC WorldBench 6 score was 114, which is just below the mark of the HP Pavilion p6540f.

HP Pavilion p6720f PC Review

Of course, if you hope to play games, you should look elsewhere. The p6720f, with its integrated ATI graphics, managed only a pathetic frame rate of 3.9 frames per second on our Unreal Tournament 3 trials (2560 x 1600 resolution, high quality). Lower quality and lower resolution does not really get us anywhere, either: the best that we finally had 21.5 fps at a resolution of 1024 x 768 with an average quality of institutions.

So gaming is out, but the budget PC category is not really designed to handle heavy lifting anyway. Machines on our mainstream desktop graphics are a better bet – the Micro Express Microflex 25B, for example, will set you back $ 850, but it is much more generous in the overall performance and digital entertainment. That said, the Pavilion p6720f offers a spacious hard drive and a fairly fast quad-core processor, making it perfect for productivity. It is so effective, you’d be hard-pressed to one or more of your interactive digital distractions running.

There are many changes in the country and the world over the past few months, but there is rarely reason to expect much from a budget desktop. Nevertheless, the HP Pavilion p6710f, available exclusively at Amazon offers a number. Although in many respects identical to its predecessor, the Pavilion p6610f, introduces two major changes that help make this model relevant for 2011. First, it bumped the capacity of the hard drive a full third of 750GB to 1TB. Maybe even stronger, it also costs less as the previous machine costs about $ 530. You’ll have to sacrifice on the typical computer and graphics performance that almost any budget system requires, but do the p6710f gives you a lot for your money.

HP Pavilion p6710f Review

Like most other members of the family pavilion, the p6710f’s midtower case is equally sparse and tight. It is mainly black with a glossy front, silver trim, and an on / off button that lights up white when the computer is on. The two 5.25-inch drive bays (only the tip of which contains an optical drive, in this case a LightScribe-enabled DVD burner) are hidden behind hinged doors. The front panel ports can be found by sliding down a panel in the second 5.25-inch bay: You’ll headphone and microphone jacks and two USB 2.0 ports to find, but there is no faster USB 3.0 ports (which is nowhere to be found on the machine). A 15-in-1 card reader is located, free, at the top of the front panel of the housing.

If you want your computer to expand the possibilities, you have a few options in the case. In addition to the extra 5.25-inch drive bay above, there are two empty spaces for 3.5-inch hard drives, two slots for extra RAM if you want to increase your computer’s memory, and four expansion slots (one PCI Express x16 and three using PCIe x1) if you want to bulk up capabilities of the desktop.

The Athlon II X4 640 CPU comes with the p6710f has four processor cores and a 3 GHz clock speed, which nicely complements the 4 GB of DDR3 memory, this desktop will be able to take full advantage, thanks to taking its 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics system is a pretty standard choice, and enough for everyday computing, if not a serious game, but you’ll have to supply your own monitor, this system does not come with one. The 1 TB hard drive is a nice touch, providing large amounts of space to store documents, photos, music, videos, or almost anything you can imagine. Unfortunately, the hard drive loaded with bloatware and free trials for HP’s own MediaSmart Suite, Norton Internet Security, Microsoft Office 2010 Starter, and so on.

In terms of performance, p6710f offers what you might anticipate from a desktop PC of this size and price: Decent day-to-day performance without much in the way of bells and whistles. It scored 6081 on our PCMark Vantage full-system test, and 3.35 in the Cinebench rendering benchmark R11.5. It was 2 minutes 32 seconds to convert a video file, Handbrake, and 5:52 for a photo in Photoshop CS5 with 12 different filters and effects process. In all cases, these results par for the course budget desktop.

The scores of 2392 and 1965 in 3DMark Vantage, respectively at the entrance (1,024 x 768) and Extreme (1920-by-1, 200) presets, showing that gaming is not forte of this system, especially in medium and higher resolutions. Because the ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics system does not support DirectX 11, we could not run our usual Lost Planet 2 test, and we were not able to Crysis graphics-intensive test.

The absence of identifiable gaming prowess is one of the major strikes against the HP Pavilion p6710f, but even that can be adopted without jacking up the price too much (good, basic graphics cards are available for $ 200 or less). For a more rounded experience, the HP TouchSmart 300-1020 is generally a stronger commitment. This desktop can be a workable solution if you need a machine that can do a bit of everything, but not necessarily need a graphic or alternator speed demon to be.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470f Review

December 10, 2010 HP Comments

HP has decided things up in a big way with their latest Pavilion Elite desktop. Earlier incarnations of the system usually have around the Intel Core i7 processors, which have been built to offer an extremely high performance with four cores. The HPE-470F to change this by switching to the AMD Athlon X6 1090T six core processor. The additional two cores, the system an advantage in certain applications that use the additional cores or just be possible only for heavily multi-tasking. More single-threaded applications like games though, it fall below what could reach the older Core i7-based systems. The processor is designed to help alleviate with 8GB of DDR3 memory any slowing of running multiple applications.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470f Review

For hard disk sizes continue to grow, HP can upgrade the hard drive to a respectable 1.5 terabyte drive included. This should be enough space for applications, data and media files. The drive comes with a variable spin rate-drive that uses less energy, but provides a bit less power than conventional drives 7200th HP is committed to Blu-ray combo drive supports allows the desktop to count double as a Blu-ray high-definition video platform. The drive also supports writing or listen to CDs or DVDs.

The graphics are definitely not the strongest aspect of the Pavilion Elite HPE-470F. This system is really not designed to be a gaming system, so that might not be a problem. It is with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, a decent budget-oriented video card that can handle gaming up to 1920×1200, but 1680×1050 only come for more sophisticated games will. This hope, the graphics upgrade will find that the system only comes with a single graphics card slot that a CrossFire configuration prevented. The power supply can not even with some of the most demanding high-end cards on the market.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470f Review

As with previous version of the Pavilion Elite sets the HPE-470F an 802.11a/g/n wireless network card. This makes the integration of the desktop into an existing Wi-Fi network extremely simple. It’s nice to see that HP also an adapter that the 5-GHz version can take advantage of 802.11n and 802.11a for higher-speed networking in a less crowded wireless spectrum.

While HP does a good job, including a wide range of application software with their computers, they also include a large amount of applications that trail software clutter on the desktop and the start-up of the operating system. This leads to poor performance and boot times, as these applications are loaded. They can be removed after purchase, but it is a nuisance.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470f Review

Conclusion

HP has grown to be the target of a strong overall performance from his series Pavilion Elite very much with the HPE-470F. It uses a six-core AMD processor, it does not work good at multitasking and processor-intensive tasks such as desktop video. The disadvantage is that it is not so good for games, but that’s not really what it is designed. Additional features such as Blu-ray and wireless networks are very useful. It would be pretty easy to see, HP tends to ease some of the preinstalled software, the disorder of the system.

HP Pavilion P6330f Review

November 22, 2010 HP Comments

Looking at the HP Pavilion p6330f desktop PC, you may feel a strong wave of desktop deja vu. The desktop uses the same chassis design Pavilion to buy the essentially remained unchanged for a few years. One could argue that HP lags in innovation, others might argue that there is no point in revising a good design. Either way, while the outside could be much look the same as in previous iterations, such as the Pavilion, we p6130f in 2009, saw-it’s what’s inside that matters most, and what works well here as a mainstream PC, although it is not suitable for serious gaming.

Under the p6330f’s familiar exterior are a number of new technologies, especially the system of dual-core 2.93GHz Intel Core i3-530 processor and motherboard chipset Intel H57. The Core i3-530 at the time we wrote this, the lowest-end offering in the most recent Intel processor line, the Nehalem chips class which contains the core i3, i5 Core and Core i7. The Core i3 has many of the same technical innovations as the high-end siblings, such as Intel’s Hyper-Threading and Smart Cache technology. But does their bottom-rung position that there are some key features, such as Intel’s Turbo Boost technology, on CPUs that support it, ramping up the clock speed of a CPU core when all cores are missing are not used.

As the processor, the system of H57 chipset is the latest creation from Intel. The H57 chip set supports faster DDR3 memory and the p6330f comes with 6GB of DDR3 SDRAM. The system also includes a spacious 1 TB hard drive and a truly integrated Intel GMA graphics chip HD. We say “real”, because this is not any ordinary integrated graphics chip, here is the graphics processor actually scored directly in the CPU Core i3, Intel’s latest attempt to improve its historically bad result integrated graphics solutions is built. (. Spoiler alert: The new and improved integrated graphics processor is ideal for watching videos, but cut it’s still not there for most 3D games) will round out the desktop components are a 16x DVD RW drive, and a 15 – Format flash card reader.

The flash card reader at the top of the system glossy front panel positioned. Also on the front of the p6330f are two 5.25-inch drive bays, one of which houses the DVD RW drive. The other is empty and can accommodate a second optical drive. The lower half of the front panel slides over an inch to reveal a series of front panel connectors, which consist of microphone and headphone jacks and a pair of USB 2.0 ports. Connectors on the back of the system include six analog audio jacks (for 7.1-channel surround sound), VGA and DVI video output, a Gigabit Ethernet port, an optical digital audio output, a FireWire port and six USB 2.0 ports. The p6330f has a total of eight USB ports, two more than the similarly priced HP Pavilion P6320F is.

In addition to being able to host a second optical drive has the p6330f more upgrade potential. Inside the chassis are three 3.5-inch drive bays, of which only one is currently using the hard disk. Note, however, that the motherboard, the four SATA ports, only two are actually available DVD RW drive and hard disk using the other two so you could actually just add two more drives. The motherboard also has an available PCI Express (PCIe) x16 slot and three empty PCIe x1 slots. If you want to do some serious gaming with the p6330f, you have to install a dedicated graphics card in the PCIe x16 slot. If you go this route, you do not spend too much, see a remarkable improvement over the integrated graphics ATI graphics card as a suitable entry-level Radeon HD 5450 sells for less than $ 35 after discounts online. You could for a much stronger (and expensive) card to decide, but be careful, the taxation system 300-watt power supply on his skills.

Three of the four system-memory slots are equipped with 2 GB RAM modules. One could increase the total PC with a last module in the empty slot, but the included 6GB is more than adequate for most users to do anything to be confused with that PC. The p6330f also an available x1 PCI Express Mini Card slot that allows you to add a Wi-Fi card could. (Such cards usually sell for between $ 20 and $ 30).

HP Pavilion P6330F Review

The 6 GB of memory certainly contributed to p6330f anchoring a very respectable result of 6658 on our 64-bit PCMark Vantage test, which provides a good measure of the overall system performance. This is particularly faster than the 5979 score that turned out the $ 699.99 Pavilion P6320F. (The model was on the quad-core 2.8 GHz AMD Phenom X4 820 based processor with 8 GB of RAM, while this system with a dual-core Intel Core i3-530 with 6 GB of RAM.) We saw a similar difference in performance on our iTunes conversion test, with the p6330f run under 2 minutes and 57 seconds to complete the task, while the P6320F took 3:27.

These roles are reversed, but on our Windows Media Encoder test, which P6320F Coming Out before 3 minutes and 20 seconds, and with the p6330f longer than 22 seconds. The P6320F also had a much more CPU-centric shows on our Cinebench test with a score of 11 776, compared to the score of p6330f 9183rd The P6320F’s lead in the latter two tests is due to the fact that system-Quad-core CPU, while the i3-core chip in this system only has two cores, though they run at a higher clock speed. The take-away here, however, that the p6330f should have enough power for most productivity and multimedia applications.

A month before we examine the PC, we looked at the Gateway SX2840-01 Slimline Desktop, the same core components, like the p6330f: a Core i3-530 processor, 6 GB of DDR3 memory, integrated Intel GMA graphics, and a 1 TB hard disk drive. As expected, the SX2840-01 virtually the same performance as the p6330f, but it costs about $ 100 less.

This also means that the SX2840-01 has the same fate as p6330f when it comes to 3D graphics performance suffers in other words, neither system is a good choice for 3D gaming. The p6330f could turn out to be only 16.3 frames per second (fps) on our Company of Heroes gaming test (running in DirectX 9) at 1,280 x1 .024-not a playable frame rate. The SX2840-01 could only eke out 15.6fps and P6320F fared even worse, only 11.6fps churning.

HP Pavilion P6330f Review

In our more sophisticated gaming test, with the title Far Cry 2 at 1,680 x1, 050, saw the p6330f an average frame rate of 7.1fps with DirectX 9 and a mere 4.6fps with DirectX 10 and that was the game of the anti- – aliasing setting is off. The P6320F that an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9100 chipset is used, put out just as disappointing performance: 7.1fps (DX9) and 10.1fps (DX10). The bottom line is you will not be able to play the latest 3D games p6330f on when you turn the quality and resolution down.

That is, some 3D titles that have very modest requirements, such as World of Warcraft or The Sims should play pretty well on the p6330f. Certainly should be casual 2D games no problem, and the p6330f comes with some preinstalled by HP as part of its game console. The games console, however, contains mostly links to other casual games, which you can buy from WildTangent. In fact, the p6330f with links to third-party online services and software tests all over. It seems every time we write a budget or mainstream HP system, increasing the number of such compounds, and it has to come to the point that the sheer volume of them has now become a nuisance.

The p6330f is from a large selection of online sources as well as brick and mortar locations. At the time this review was published, showed a quick Google search shopping, that most online retailers actually sell the system for a bit more than the $ 659.99 list price, so your best bet would be to buy the PC now at Amazon.

Overall, the AMD processor-equipped version of this PC, the P6320F, very similar to the p6330f in many ways, and it costs about the same (based on actual selling prices). The AMD model with Wi-Fi wireless technology, while the p6330f doesn’t-so if you need wireless, which could be P6320F a better choice. On the other hand, the p6330f a little more potential than the upgrade p6320p. Given the similar prices and components, some of the classic as an Intel versus AMD see Matchup, but in the end, both PCs have sound, similar to actors for their prices and come with room to grow.

HP Pavilion Elite e9260f Review

November 19, 2010 HP Comments

You will find the Pavilion Elite e9260f sold at Amazon, with front-line specifications are pretty impressive for a mainstream rig. The e9260f is an Intel Core i5-750 CPU clocked at 2.66 GHz to build whopping 8GB of fast DDR3 RAM support. If you are a serious player, leaves the Nvidia GeForce GT desired to 230 video card a little, but when you play content on demanding games at medium resolutions, without any eye candy enabled, it is passable, though the Dell Inspiron 8000 GeForce GTX 260 has more gaming muscle. The HP system graphics card has an HDMI port and DVI, so those who have their PC will be content to an HDTV connection. The 8 GB of RAM should suffice for most users, but you can top of the motherboard with 16 GB if you are willing to replace the four 2GB RAM modules that are installed are.

The Sports e9260f two vacant PCI Express (PCIe) x1 slots, an unused 5.25-inch bay and one 3.5-inch bay. Additional space in the housing is occupied by a shaft to accept HP’s own Personal Media Drive USB hard drives. A Wi-Fi card supports 802.11a/b/g/n occupies one of the PCIe slots, and you can remove it easily for more expansion space, if you want to connect via a cable to the pavilions Gigabit Ethernet port. The two free SATA ports also limits internal drive expansion, although the system 1TB hard drive should keep most users happy for a while.

The case looks nice enough, with glossy black finish and silver trim, but we have seen slight variations on the case of HP back to mid-2007 with the HP Pavilion Elite m9000t. Looking at the smooth chassis we have lately seen from the above line and Dell Studio Slim offers from Acer, the HP Pavilion Elite dated feel to start tower.

Nevertheless, a great tower has its advantages. You will receive a hefty number of USB 2.0 ports on the Pavilion Elite e9260f, with six in the back and three in the front. We find a quibble with the placement of the couple on the upper left-hand side of the front panel, next to the 15-format flash card reader. Sitting only a fraction of an inch above the optical drive, plugging in cables is something disturbing here, probably with the optical drive door. could prevent even a bulky novelty USB flash drive into the bottom port of the door. It’s not a big problem if the number of different USB ports, but you want to mind what you put here.

We also want HP had taken a cue from the Dell Inspiron 8000 and Gateway DX4820 and put a few convenient USB ports on the top of the Pavilion Elite case for easy charging of mobile phones and media players. The HP case, the tray on top, but it lacks USB ports are handy. And much like its older cousin, the HP Pavilion Elite e9120f, the function is not e9260f all PS/2 ports for older peripherals.

HP Pavilion Elite e9260f Review

In our productivity tests led the Pavilion Elite e9260f excellent for the price. On our CPU-taxing Cinebench 10 test achieved the e9260f 14 073, which is a bit on the Dell XPS 8000, which reached a mark of 13 653. In our iTunes encoding test where we convert 11 songs from MP3 to AAC format, took the e9260f 2 minutes and 42 seconds, to complete the task. The Inspiron 8000, crossed the finish line back a little, by 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

The Studio XPS 8000 held in close continuity with the Pavilion Elite e9260f in our Windows Media Encoder test, however, which it completed in 2 minutes and 54 seconds, seven seconds slower than the HP machine. And runs our entire operation of PC performance, PCMark Vantage produced, also predicted similar results: for the Pavilion Elite 8329, compared with the Studio XPS 8000 8170. Neither the other PC blew out of the water in one of these tests, the small surprise, considering that both sports the same CPU and memory size.

In terms of gaming performance, the Pavilion Elite e9260f handle older tracks quite well, but it struggles with newer, if all the eye candy is turned on. We started our game tests with DirectX 9 Company of Heroes. The e9260f has hit an impressive 119 frames per second (fps) at 1,280 x 1,024, but the Dell Inspiron 8000 portable, screaming 213fps at the same resolution. The Dell beat the HP in our Far Cry 2 tests, but by less margins. In DirectX 9 with a resolution of 1,680 x 1,050, the HP expressed 20.1fps, while the Inspiron 8000 was racing through it at 50fps.

HP Pavilion Elite e9260f Review

The results were similar in DirectX 10 test of Far Cry 2 at 1,680 x1, 050 Dell, 51.1 fps, and HP, 25fps. What is clear, the Pavilion Elite e9260f GeForce GTX 230 graphics card is a decent middle-of-the-road acceleration, but it certainly is not for high-end gaming. That is, turn the eye-candy settings and resolution down a bit, and you are probably playable frame rates in today’s games to see. And if you have more computing power (and have more money available), which has recently revised HP Pavilion Elite HPE-170T has an Intel Core i7 CPU and crave a GeForce GTX 260 graphics card.

If you do not do much gaming on plan to offer you find less expensive systems, the rapid productivity. But the Pavilion Elite e9260f offers a decent mix of midrange gaming performance and quickness with other PC tasks, making it a good family PC or a capable home-office workhorse with enough graphics power to keep you entertained during downtime.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-235f Review

November 18, 2010 HP Comments

Desktops in the mainstream PC category, are generally designed to meet the general home and business computing. While lacking the raw muscle power of systems in the performance PC category, they deliver strong performance without breaking the bank, and usually they try to scratch the itch, the high-definition media. Priced at $ 999.99 (as of November 2010), the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-235f packs a six-core AMD processor and delivers performance in a position at a fairly reasonable price.

Powered by a 2.6 GHz Athlon X6 1035T-processor, 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard drive, earned the HPE-235f a WorldBench 6 points 114 – a strong result, but at the lower end of the category. Gaming performance was a bit disappointing, too. The HPE-235f ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card is not playable frame rates at all resolutions of our Dirt to produce 2 benchmark. On our benchmark Unreal Tournament 3, it managed a frame rate of 25.6 frames per second (at 2560 x 1600 resolution and highest quality). Once we selected the resolution to 1920 of 1200, ran Unreal Tournament 3 on a respectable 43.4 fps.

Monitor not included!

Other machines have performed better. This enabled the Dell Inspiron 7100, equipped with an ATI Radeon 5870, a frame rate of 88 fps and deserves a slightly higher WorldBench 6 score of 120 The Dell is also slightly more expensive, though, so keep that in mind when comparing the two.

The HPE-235f is placed in the standard HP drivers – it is quite literally a cut-down twin of the company’s Pavilion Elite HPE 390T-performance desktop. Although it is a bit edgy and clear,’s ports and the like are easily accessible. A bucket on the top provides a handy place to rest your gadgets tend, however competitive systems to include a USB port or two on this site, so that the benefits of the space.

On the front of the case is the Blu-ray player/DVD burner combo drive and three USB ports (two on the multi-format card reader and a hidden behind a panel with the microphone and headphone jacks on the bottom left side). Six more USB ports are on the back (for a total of nine), in addition to 7.1 channel and optical audio outputs, a FireWire port and a Gigabit Ethernet port. The PC also offers 802.11n Wi-Fi if you want, cut the cable clutter. The ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card offers a DisplayPort port, a HDMI port and a DVI port.

You have to break out your screwdriver, if you want to tinker inside the machine. It has some room for adding some additional components (a second hard drive or other 5.25-inch drive), but you have to wrestle the cable into a semblance of order to get there. The system also features a pair of open PCIe x1 slots, but the insertion of a larger graphics card will be a challenge – the 300W power supply is not much room for expansion, either.

The included keyboard and mouse are not particularly interesting. Although the keyboard has some media-keyboard shortcuts both input devices are wired, and otherwise generally. Both are convenient to use, but if you are an advocate for additional functionality of your peripherals, you will want to invest in a number of its own.

The HPE-235f comes with some HP-branded bit software. HP Total Care Advisor will inform you about your PC’s interior, driver and software updates, monitoring and control of data backup and technical support. It’s just a front-end tasks that handles Windows 7 and applications natively, but it is a useful tool if you are familiar with some of the obscure elements of your PC.

HP MediaSmart software provides media playback and photo browsing applications, similar to how the software if the company All-in-one machines like the TouchSmart 600 Quad – sans touch functionality, of course. The HPE-235f sport and CyberLink software for the use of the Blu-ray drive and Microsoft Works 9 productivity software.

Although the limited room for improvement is a sore point, it is a common handicap for machines outside of the service class from the larger PC manufacturers. It looks like the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-235f best for a user who is probably not much to do upgrade or enthusiast-level gaming, but want a machine that can hit through high definition media without skipping a churn suitable. If you’re in the mood for something a little meatier, Dell Inspiron 7100 may cost slightly more, but it closes the gap by packing in a better graphics performance and increased six-core AMD processor.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5560f Review

November 15, 2010 HP Comments

For the most part, stuck the HP Pavilion Slimline s5560f the same basic overall design as the last models of the slim desktop. They have gone and updated a number of the parts, but it still looks the same with the same features. It still uses the AMD Phenom X4 processor, which helps with multitasking and mutlithreaded applications such as desktop video. The speed bump is quite small and it is behind the i3-Core processor in single application tasks because of the higher clock speeds. The 6 GB of storage to mitigate a slowdown, which would be caused by heavy multitasking or memory-intensive applications.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5560f Review

Storage remains the same as in previous models with a sizable 1TB hard drive that much room for applications, data, and in particular for digital media provides. The stand out feature is the Blu-ray combo drive to make this support at a great home theater PC. It can not only playback or recording CDs and DVDs, but also the playback of high definition Blu-ray movies. This combined with an over the air HDTV tuner and the smart media application with Netflix, the system can handle just about any kind of 1080p high-definition video source.

One of the other major upgrade was the graphics card. The most slim Desktop rely on integrated graphics, but HP support includes a dedicated graphics card to handle the high-definition media streaming. The s5560f upgrade the graphics card to the AMD Radeon HD 5450 with 512 MB of memory. This gives this version a bit of a speed boost and support for Direct X 11 graphics. This is not a very high end graphics card, but it should be for casual 3D games at reasonable resolutions. More demanding games must still display at lower resolutions and lower levels are though.

The s5560f further comprise a variety of wireless connectivity. This includes 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking adapter, that they connect in a wireless home network and can be placed in an environment such as a home theater without network cabling. The wireless keyboard and mouse also help the cabling to a minimum. The disadvantage is that this reduces the total usable USB ports, because the keyboard and the mouse will need a USB receiver connected to the desktop.
