Finding a cheap laptop can be an incredibly difficult task, because some have left to get to that price is always in the back of your mind. The Acer Aspire AS5742-6475 was not fully charged, but it’s a sweet deal because it sacrifices the least among his colleagues. It comes with a high-end i3 Core processor, 500GB of storage, and has over 5 hours battery life features you’d normally find on a larger budget. For this reason, it’s the new choice in the budget laptop category.
I will not bother defending the AS5742-6475 looks, because this is not a love-at-first-sight laptop. The all-black chassis is designed to right with your living room or office furniture. You will no traces of gloss, stripes of colors, or decorative patterns, unlike the Dell Inspiron iM501R-1655MRB and Asus K52F-A1, which puts more thought into their designs. The top is woven, but which reduces the possibility of fingerprints or smudeges. At 5 pounds, the AS5742-6475 is one of the lightest 15-inch laptops. Are lighter than the Asus K52F-A1 (5.8 lbs), Dell-M501R 1655MRB (5.6 lbs), and Sony VAIO VPC-EB33FM/BJ (5.4 lbs).

The 15.6-inch widescreen display is large and easy on the eyes. The 1366-by-768 is as high as a budget laptop will go but it’s more than enough for office and media consumption. The keyboard consists of large, island-style keys that, when typed on, felt sturdy and meets. There is also an adjacent full-size keyboard with numeric keypad. Not a fan of the island-style keys? The Lenovo G560-0679AKU ships with a traditional keyboard, but with a numeric keypad. The mouse buttons are not resistant, so it clicks experience was enjoyable. And towing experience is pleasant, because the touchpad is wide and responsive.
The AS5742-6475 does not have a big lead in the features section, except that it is cheaper than its rivals. It comes with a spacious 500 GB hard drive, matching the capacity found in the Sony and Lenovo G560 EB33FM/BJ-0679AKU. Ports and slots are what you would expect from a $ 600 laptop: It comes with three USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Ethernet, a webcam, and a multimedia card reader. An HDMI port is on the left, so you an HDMI cable connected to an HDTV, say, if you want to stream a Netflix DVD of the built-in DVD burner. For wireless connectivity, there’s 802.11n Wi-Fi but no Bluetooth.

If not convincing, PCMark Vantage, a test that all essential parts of the laptop, beat the highest score (5639). It runs integrated graphics, though, so I’d fire the games.
The 48Wh battery is not particularly large compared to its peers, but the AS5742-6475 made the most out of it. On MobileMark 2007 battery test, it just broke the 5 hour mark (5:01), beating the Sony EB33FM/BJ (4:33) with approximately half hour.
