Performance

Switching to a folder of files could easily read/write speeds to dive to 28.3/20.9MB/s that are still connected in what you expect from a USB 2.0 drive.

A small external hard drive 1 TB at the time of writing contains a certain price penalty. One could almost certainly score a couple of 500GB drives for less than the asking price of the My Passport Essential when physical disability was not a factor implementation.
