The M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Desktop Speaker System is an excellent set of 2.0 speakers that offers an all-around great sound experience. The speakers are a little big, but the dual-driver system uses that format, especially the 4-inch woofer. The price is a bit high, it puts at number two on our list of computer speakers. However, users are willing to pay for those extra costs for these speakers to get.
M-Audio is well regarded for their professional sound monitors, keyboards and MIDI interfaces, hardware and all kinds of music-related software and creation, both professional and consumer. M-Audio is a division of Avid, a well known and respected company also provides non-linear editing software and computer systems. With that type of background, it’s no surprise how high the quality of the Studiophile AV 40 speakers of the computer.
There are a number of impressive features, the Studiophile AV 40s to make such great speakers. The frequency response, sensitivity, impedance and total assets are all very impressive. These speakers, many of the same technology found on more expensive professional studio monitors M-Audio. The company also their Optimage III technology ensures sound management in the broad range of high-lows, keeping subtle sounds (such as a weak violin) losing.

The frequency range between 85 Hz and 20,000 Hz (or 20 kHz), resulting in a wide range of sound, from lows to highs. The sensitivity is 90 dB (decibels), while the impedance is 10 ohms 20 ohms balanced and unbalanced. The total watts that your computer speakers reached a jaw-dropping 40! Similar units stuck around 20 watts or so. These are high ratings for quality of sound in the Studiophile AV 40.
Sound quality is great when playing a variety of different media, including music (a mix of songs ranging from classical to rap to heavy metal), video games (“Half-Life 2: Episode 2″ and “Plants vs. Zombies”) and movies / TV shows (“The Dark Knight” and “Community”). None of the louder music or sound causes the computer speakers to distort, while subtle details sounded clear. There is also a Bass Booster switch to pump up the lows even more unlike cheap oem software. As we mentioned in the Bose Companion 2 review, the speakers may be connected to a home entertainment setup, but users would be missing from the 5.1 stereo surround experience.
The design is reminiscent premiere music M-Audio studio monitors that musicians and producers to use when recording songs. These units can cost nearly $ 1,000. Sure, the units are larger than normal of 8.75″ (H) x 6″ (W) x 7.25″ (D), but there are several other speakers in this class, which is much larger, but not as wide as these particular speakers.

The M-Audio Studiophile AV40s come from left and right RCA line input, left and right 1/4-inch TRS input and a 1/8-inch (3.5mm) auxiliary input. Connecting to a home entertainment center or gaming console is simple, although the sound can not be as good as mentioned above.
M-Audio does not skimp on the number or size of drivers on the Studiophile AV 40s. Each speaker has two drivers: a 3/4-inch tweeter and a monster-sized 4-inch woofer (midrange). The highs, mid and bass sound great. According to M-Audio, the polypropylene-coated woofer, while the tweeter is ferrofluid cooled silk dome. The production of the drivers is important, because any problem or issue in construction could result in worse sound. The AV 40′s, many drivers.
As with all the speakers we evaluate computers with the latest versions of Windows or Mac OS X (10.6 and earlier, Windows 7 and earlier) will have no problem connecting with the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 units. For the price of the speakers, this can not be a good investment, stick with the standard warranty of 12 months and e-mail technical support issues. Verdict
The M-Audio Studiophile Desktop Speaker System is an excellent choice for 2.0 computer speakers. With a design such as high-end studio monitors and fantastic sound quality, it is worth a consideration. The only catch is the higher price.
